Requirements / Responsibilities:

  • Work closely in a multi-discipline team environment; provide I&C design expertise on various projects, including coordinating project requirements and inter-discipline work and work-share with other team member.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, along with the ability to prepare routine to moderately difficult engineering and design drawings (comprised of equipment arrangements, plan layouts, details, isometrics, single-line diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, instrument specifications, data sheet development and terminal box wiring diagrams). Participate in the leadership and technical aspects of project designs and work closely with others.
  • Manage and execute work assignments with minimal direction. Must have the ability to multi-task and work on several project assignments simultaneously. Must be experienced, self-directed and an independent worker with a knowledge base to execute I&C designs in an efficient and timely manner. Maintaining project schedules and budgets are key.
  • Collaboratively work other engineers and designers. Mentor and guide our junior engineers and designers.
  • Generate and review equipment specifications, technical bid tabs and approve vendor submittals.
  • Must take ownership in and have positive involvement in the design aspects of a project, with an infectious focus on project quality, reducing errors and performing quality work as a professional.
  • Candidates must have a high level of technical I&C expertise; experience in aspects of electrical engineering and design is desirable.
  • Must have a focus on safety, whether it is in the workplace, out in the field, on the road or on the clients site.
  • Project work may include designs on projects in various industries: Semiconductor, Data Centers, Natural Gas Storage & Distribution Automation, Pharmaceutical/biotech, Chemical and Manufacturing.

Job Requirements

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Portland
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • 5 + years of experience as an electrical, instrumentation and controls designer, or engineer. Design and engineering project experience in Semi-conductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, water/waste water project.
  • 5EIT preferred with the potential to obtain a PE license (a PE license is not required for the position, but it is preferred).
Travel Requirements:

  • 40 – 60% travel will be required to support installation and start-up activities, attend Client meetings, Design Group management meetings, company sponsored training and industry related seminars, forums or conventions.
  • Initial Travel may be higher than this in order to support other regional projects.
