Software Development Architect


Position Purpose:

This is an ideal opportunity to utilize your advanced technical, creative and problem solving skills to design multi-tiered online banking applications. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to solve complex business problems; identify and introduce new technologies; and work with a highly talented development team, using the latest Microsoft technologies and developer tools.

The Software Development Architect will have full technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of the business application and projects. This person is the primary contributor to the design of a tier or tiers of the software suite (Presentation or Data tiers as examples). They will increase the technical expertise of the team as a whole by introducing new technologies and by acting as a mentor to others. They will address architectural issues for their assigned tier. They will be responsible for building and adhering to a multi-year roadmap. They are expected to design and lead the implementation of customization and extension of their tier. They work with customers and technical staff to resolve problems and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. This person can demonstrate multi-tasking skills under tight deadlines and constraints. Typically requires a minimum of 10 years experience.

* Review and provide input on requirements for multiple products.

* Develop software architecture and associated documentation as designed.

* Mentor others on software products, including interfaces and technology.

* Collaborate with team developers and key members area to design product, maintain standards, and further product technologies.

* Will review design and development work of other developers or be called on as a resource to investigate and resolve product issues.

* Provide training and support to internal customers. Measure the impact of changes to clients.

* Continual self-development in the form of reading, training and/or conferences.

* Understand and measure the trade-offs between technology shifts and business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related study, or equivalent experience, preferred.

* At least 10 years experience writing software in a production environment, preferably in product development setting. Software development experience should include distributed server solutions with rigorous quality, scalability, robustness and reliability requirements.

* At least 6 years experience with Microsoft Windows server software

* Proven practical experience with software product development/management processes and software configuration management.

* Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies. Works well with others.

* Agnostic towards technology choices; more interested in results than in personal choices.

* Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork.

* Visio, UML, Sequence diagrams

* Strong C#/.NET programming; .NET Framework 1.x/2.0/3.x/4.x

* ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, ASP.NET AJAX, CSS, XML

* Unit testing

* Visual Studio 2008 or 2010

* ASP.NET MVC

* Windows Communication Foundation

* Experience using common design patterns

* Programming constructs

* Experience working with SQL Server 2005 or later

* Skilled at active listening and capable of facilitating discussions.

* Able to take a variety of tasks from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

* Database development with SQL Server 2005 or later

* General server administration on Windows Server 2008 R2

* nUnit or other automated unit test development framework

* Agile development practice experience

Travel Required:

* Approximately 15%
