Organometallic chemist (Albany)
Opportunity for individual to join research and development team as an Organometallicchemist with the Grace Davison team in Albany, OR. This position will be responsible for the following activities:
- Identification of synthetic routes, experimental design, optimization of conditions
- Supporting scaleup as necessary
- High degree of hands on experimental work
- Define and perform experimentation to support technical projects and resolve plant problems with limited supervision
- Provide process expertise to department customers and laboratory peers
-Recognize commercial impact ofwork to make recommendations for other applications
- Prepare, operate, and maintain lab hardware to safely perform process development projects
- Record all information in lab notebooks for detailed documentation of experimental results
- Review and interpret results to define and perform follow-up studies to meet project goals
- Provide leadership in helping developing technical projects and goals
- Review literature to keep current on new technologies/products for possible local site applications Requirements
Successful candidates must have the following:
-In-depth knowledge of on-site product-related chemical processes for credibility with customers and peers
-Broad understanding of chemical processing beyond existing products and procedures
- Must have planning skills todefine schedules/priorities for multiple assignments under limited supervision
- Effectiveverbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and persuasion when interacting with peers, customers and management
- Knowledge of laboratory and engineering factors needed to simulate scale-up of safe chemical processes
-Working knowledge of chromatographic analytical techniques
Experience Required
Candidates will be considered based on meeting the following requirements:
Must have experience in organometallic chemistry and synthesis techniques
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry with 5 years experience as a production based Process Chemist
-Masters degree in Chemistry with 3 years of experience as a production based Process Chemist
- PhD degree in Chemistry desired
- Experience with bench chemistry techniques which include but are not limited to distilling, titrating, lab scale reactions, pressurized reactions, crystallizing, and purifying
