Oracle DBA Manager



This position is with a global logistics company in Portland.  The role of the Oracle Applications DBA Manager is to lead the Oracle DBA team in the delivery of high quality business services to the various business customers.  This role is responsible for: Managing the team that maintains the Oracle Applications Databases and supporting tools for the R12 Financials implementation at the company; Continue to institutionalize maintenance and implementation processes that are effective, efficient, and supported by visible metrics; Collaborate with other IT and Business groups to assist in the achievement of on-time delivery of services; Effectively manage the Oracle Applications DBA team to provide high quality services to the business, other supporting team, and all ongoing Oracle Application projects; Drive best practices related to the underlying Oracle Technology Stack and Oracle Applications database architecture with regard to E-Business Suite module schemas/products.  Superior verbal and written communications skills including demonstrated documentation experience with ability to cross-train DBA team on Oracle ERP and Hyperion HFM.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Oracle Application DBA team.

  • Collaborate with the IT Infrastructure team, the IT Planning & Execution team, Oracle and third-Party Vendors, and other Business Groups in the development / delivery of business applications.

  • Develop and execute an appropriate delivery team model (e.g., resources, skills, process management) to meet current and projected needs/constraints.

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of an Enterprise Application Architecture as it relates to the Oracle Financials databases.

  • Ensure Oracle Application DBA team delivers on-time, on-budget, and high-quality.

  • Develop an effective resource planning process for the Oracle Application DBA team; providing headcount planning.

  • Develop and implement strong Oracle Application DBA techniques and effective methodologies.

  • Participate in the maintenance of the various Oracle E-Business instances and Hyperion instances.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Logging, managing, and resolving Oracle SRs with Oracle Support and internal Support Team.

  • Responsible for providing backend support for the development, testing and UAT environments for Oracle ERP and Hyperion HFM as well as other production databases and new projects.

  • Manage the deployments for Coding, Cloning, Refreshing, Patching, Backups, Purges, etc.

  • Enterprise Testing - Support the coordination of Component/Unit Testing (dev), Functional Integration Testing (FIT), System Integration Testing (SIT), Dress Rehearsal (smoke) and pre-production Client Acceptance Testing (QA).



QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical Knowledge and Skills related to Oracle EBS suite R12 Database architecture.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of information processing principles and practices.

  • Basic knowledge in core enterprise IT infrastructure.

  • Basic technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems with emphasis on AIX, Oracle, and Microsoft products.

  • Basic knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws as relevant to IT compliance.

  • Application/Infrastructure Lifecycle.

  • IT Security, Hardware Engineering and Support.

  • Operating Systems Engineering and Support.

  • IT Compliance.

  • Network Infrastructure.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Hands on management of an Oracle Financials r12 Database instances.

  • Experience managing Hyperion environments.

  • Experience with STAT (by Quest) or similar code migration tool.

  • Experience managing high performing teams.

  • Project Management skills.

  • Experience working with Change Management processes and tools.

  • Excellent Interpersonal Communication and Language Skills.



Education

  • University degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or other related field.

  • Oracle certifications.

  • Knowledgeable of Quality Assurance tools and techniques.

  • Knowledgeable of Project Management methods, processes, and deliverables.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office toolset (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).



Experience

  • 10+ years related experience, at least 5 years in a management capacity.

  • Experienced tracking and reporting relevant metrics (e.g., capacity, productivity, progress, quality).

  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite R12.

  • Public company experience with corporate IT governance and IT audit.

  • Experience Managing an upgrade of Oracle Finance Applications.

  • Configuring Oracle Enterprise Manager for Active and Passive Environments.

  • Previously built and developed teams to support an Oracle implementation.

  • People management experience.

  • Develop process to maintain Oracle Applications patch levels and work with the business to maintain these levels.

  • Experience of infrastructure management of Hyperion Management tools and Experience installing and maintaining Hyperion HFM, is required.

  • Candidate must be familiar with troubleshooting Java, Windows and Linux issues associated with rolling out/maintenance of Hyperion HFM deployment.

  • Candidate will be responsible for building out ERP as expanded business requirements occur, including the skills to scale ERP globally as new international offices/users are added.

  • Experience with Installation/Maintenance of Oracle ERP R12, patching, and upgrading.
