The incumbent serves as part of an Inventory Management Team responsible for insuring that
the customer receives the right item, in the correct quantity and at the right time. The incumbent is required to make technical determinations and recommendations based on a broad field of knowledge and often operates under extremely critical time deadlines to meet essential patient care needs on a timely basis. The incumbent assesses and analyzes data to be used for the management and control of all inventory transactions and purchasing decisions which determine the quantity and dollar value of the line items of inventory required to support the professional staff providing medical care to our veteran patients.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, 8 hour shifts may vary

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:Independently plans, manages, and controls inventory transactions and purchase decisions which determine the quantity and dollar value of the inventory required to maintain support
of the assigned activities; performs constant, strict surveillance of managed line items to ensure medical products are available for use when needed; establishes stock levels, revising reorder frequencies, and forecasting future requirements, as necessary, to provide continuous support; plans and initiates requisitions to ensure commitments are within authorized funds and deliveries are phased to correspond to usage requirements.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.

Physical Requirements: Work is normally accomplished in an office setting, however, due to the nature of the position and duties, incumbent may be called upon to assist in the storage and distribution of medical supplies primarily consisting of lifting boxes and placing them on shelves or carrying them to another area of the service.
